If you thought cleansers just removed skin oil and daily grime from your skin, think again. The cleansers have come a long way from just cleaning purposes to help you to get a moisturized and mild looking skin. The cleansers that you get today do affect your skin cells in many ways than one. Apart from the usual properties, cleansers also protect your skin cell proteins and lipids. Lipids are the most important constituents of our body and they are not water soluble, but soluble in alcohol and fat solvents. Lipid molecules are also the most important constituents of your living skin cells.

The cleansers, which you buy in the market, affect the skin cells positively, by providing humectants, which minimize damaging interactions between surfactants (surface acting substances), skin proteins and lipids. As a result, this action minimizes damage to your skin and skin cells. At the same time the vitamin content (A, C and E) of the cleanser solution, revitalizes the skin cells and exfoliate the dead skin cells.

Always choose your cleansers carefully according to the nature of your skin, the ingredients in the cleansers and their suitability to your skin type. Because you need cleansers to have a positive effect on your skin, you will consider buying a cleanser, which is not allergic to your skin. The cleansers those are available in the market, have a wide range of ingredients like Tea tree oil (about 10%), salicylic acid, herbal and vegetable extracts and fragrances. Cleansers also come in many types, with various formulation suiting different types of skins.

However, you may experience some sort of discomfort, when using certain types of cleansers. Tightening or stiffening of skin is one such discomfort that is left over by a few of the cleansers. Today you can also find specialty cleansers exclusively formulated for sensitive and soap restricted skin type. These cleansers are known to sooth, soften and moisturize your skin, leaving you with a healthy and beautiful feeling.

Removing the dead skin cells (exfoliation), help give your skin a fresh and younger look. Exfoliation can be done every day for oily skins, by using cleanser containing 10 percent Glycol. You can add that gleaming touch to your skin, by using a carefully selected cleanser, which is not harmful and allergic in nature. You will need to consider a cleanser, which is suitable to any weather and climate.

As most of us know, hormones produced in our body, especially women, play an active role in reproduction as well as possible acne flare ups. However, contraceptive pills and birth control medicines are also know to reduce the occurrence of acne. Many research findings have established the positive benefits of birth control pills in treating acne.

The acne occurrence, a week before the monthly periods in females is possibly due to excess hormones, which also triggers excessive secretion of sebum. Oestrogens in the form of an-ovulatory drugs help reduce excess sebum in female patients. The other birth control drugs that are advised for the acne control are ethinylestradiol or mestranol and these drugs are consumed on a daily basis. These birth control drugs are prescribed at a very low level of 100 micro grams per day. However this dosage may not be as effective in all patients, because their sebaceous glands may not respond adequately. But there are patients, who respond very well, even at lower dosages. This inconsistency in determination of dosages makes acne cure a bit difficult.

For an effective acne treatment using birth control pills, you can consider taking Oestrogens, as advised by your physician, usually in either a two week or a three week course. In the first course, they are prescribed with out progesterone for two weeks, beginning with the 14th day of the menstrual cycle. In the three week cycle, they are given with the progesterone in the form of oral contraceptive pills, for 21 days, beginning from the 5th day of the cycle. Any improvement can be noticed only after three to four cycles of treatment, because it takes 12 to 16 weeks for significant reduction of sebum secretion.

Similarly, the cyclical course of androgens may also be used for good results with acne. Ortho Tri-Cyclen is also found to be effective in reducing the premenstrual hormonal production (androgens), thereby reducing the sebum secretion. Ortho Tri-Cyclean, like other drugs, has shown good results in patients with moderate acne. A study confirms a birth control pill containing levonorgestrel, is also effective in curing light to moderate acne. Some patients have also demonstrated good results with birth control pills in combination with a topical application.

Do not forget the side effects too. More common side effects extend from nausea to weight gain to breast tenderness, to breast cancer and dysfunction of your liver. It is also possible that the birth control that helped your friend’s acne may not be effective at all in your case. Not all drugs are over-the-counter medicines. You should not forget to consult to your physician, before jumping on to birth control for help in acne.

It’s everyone’s worst nightmare. Waking up the day before a
special event to discover a big, red pimple baring itself for all
to see right on your face!

Here’s how to get rid of it quickly and safely:

1. Don’t ever pinch, squeeze or pick at a pimple. This only
causes it to become more red and inflamed, and will spread the
bacteria and oils that caused it in the first place, to other
parts of your face! It can also lead to scars.

2. Every 30 minutes, apply an ice pack to the pimple and hold it
there for about 2 minutes. This will decrease the swelling and
redness and help shrink the inflammation and pain that sometimes
comes along with it.

3. They don’t call it concealer for nothing! Covering the pimple
with a light dose of flesh-tinted concealer can help mask it when
you’re in a hurry. It also helps cover up that oily shine.

4. Cleanse your skin 2-3 times a day with mild, unscented soap or
a specialized acne cleanser that has no harsh chemicals (such as
lye). Scrub skin gently with an exfoliating pad or washcloth, but
don’t rub too hard, otherwise you’ll sap your skin of its own
natural oils, which help to repel buildup naturally.

5. Apply a cream or ointment containing benzyl peroxide or
salicylic acid (many over-the-counter acne medicines contain
these ingredients) to the blemish or around the entire facial
area. Note that these ingredients both have a tendency to dry
out skin if used too much and are not recommended if you have
sensitive skin.

6. Wear oil-free makeup whenever possible. These types have less
of a tendency to cause the pore buildup that results in
blemishes. Remove your makeup nightly and cleanse with an
acne-fighting medicine to remove dirt, oil and makeup from deep
within the skin.

7. If you’re in need of a quick fix, a dab of toothpaste on the
affected area right before bed can help soothe irritation and
reduce redness. Pressing and holding a wet tea bag or a cotton
ball with a dab of lemon juice against the blemish for five
minutes can also reduce swelling and redness.

If you follow these tips, chances are you’ll notice a significant
difference rather quickly – often within a day or two. If
pimples become a recurring problem or worsen, your doctor or
dermatologist can suggest a daily skin cleansing routine that
will suit your skin type. Other long-term remedies, such as
facial masks, diet adjustments and increasing the amount of water
you drink can also help combat outbreaks.

While there are several good products now available for the treatment of acne, for some adults, these treatments do not work. However, oral contraceptives for adult acne in Canada women do seem to offer an alternative that is getting good results.

While this hormonal treatment is limited to women, oral contraceptives for adult acne in Canada are effective because scientists feel that adult onset acne is common in women who have irregularities in their menstrual cycles, or ovarian cysts, which may cause hormonal abnormalities that increase androgen productivity. This results in acne breakouts.

Women who have not experienced good results with more standard acne treatments are typically treated in their 20′s or 30′s with oral contraceptives. These women typically have a history of menstrual irregularities, oily skin, and premenstrual acne breakouts.

Oral contraceptives are not actually used to treat acne, however. Oral contraceptives for adult acne in Canada are used to regulate the menstrual cycle, which in turn often eliminates acne breakouts. After a couple of month’s of treatment with oral contraceptives, if acne is still a problem, anti androgens are added. The combination of oral contraceptives and anti androgens is quite effective.

Because other side effects are possible with the use of oral contraceptives, patients are given the lowest dosage possible, for the shortest period of time needed. Oral contraceptives are not commonly used to treat the more severe forms of acne, such as nodular or cystic acne.

Most doctors will only prescribe oral contraceptives for adult acne in Canada after more standard treatments have failed. Patients must be closely monitored to ensure that the dosage prescribed is right for them, and doesn’t cause other problems. It can often take two or three months before any results are noticed, because the medication must have time to ‘straighten out’ the hormones to achieve the proper levels for each individual.

If you are considering the use of oral contraceptives for the treatment of adult acne, consult your doctor, and make sure that you understand all the health risks associated with oral contraceptives so that you can make an informed decision.

Acne, which affects both teenagers and adults of all races, usually occurs on the face, neck, chest, and back. No matter where on the body the outbreak occurs, the cause is usually the same – an overproduction of sebum. But acne can be aggravated on certain parts of the body in other ways. For instance, the causes of jawline acne symptoms are caused by factors other than sebum production.

Jawline acne symptoms can occur when the hair comes into contact with the jawline – which is common for people with longer hair. Hair contains oils that contribute to acne. Therefore, it is important to keep your hair off your face, including the jawline. Hair simply resting against the face – even when the hair is clean – often causes acne breakouts, or slows the healing process for current breakouts.

When we rest our heads in our hands, we often have our hands on our jawlines, propping our heads up. This also contributes to jawline acne symptoms, because our hands also contain oils that cause acne. Keeping the hands off all areas of the face is important.

Jawline acne can also be caused by the use of makeup. Makeup tends to cake in the creases of the face, and along the jawline. This clogs the pores, and causes acne breakouts. Try to avoid using makeup, or use makeup that is hypoallergenic or designed for sensitive skin. Be sure to remove all makeup before going to bed at night.

Sweat is another factor that causes jawline acne. When sweat runs down our faces, it often rests on our jawlines for a minute or two before dropping off our skin. Sweat contains oils and toxins that cause acne. When doing activities that cause you to sweat, try using a head band to keep sweat from running down your face, and remove the head band and wash the face well after sweating.

Finally, jawline acne symptoms can be caused by not washing the jawline area well enough. Often, when we wash our faces, we try not to get our shirts wet. This results in washing our faces down far enough to include the jawline. The jawline pores then become clogged, causing acne. Remove your shirt or wrap a towel around you to protect your clothing, and make sure that you wash all the way down to the neck each time you wash your face.

Jawline acne symptoms can be reduced or eliminated by following these simple steps. If jawline acne persists, you may need to try alternate treatments. For cases of severe jawline acne symptoms, consult your doctor.

Acne is a common skin problem that affects both teenagers and adults. Many people spend a small fortune looking for a solution to their acne problems. Sometimes, they find those solutions, while others battle acne for years. After battling acne, the next question is how long does acne red marks stay?

The red marks that appear when acne is clearing up is a result of the infection and healing process. It is most often a temporary condition, that will go away. But, to answer the question, how long does acne red marks stay, takes a little more consideration.

We are all very different people, and we all heal in different ways, at different time rates. How long acne red marks stay is dependent on many factors. The first factor is the severity of the acne. The spots left after treating more severe acne will take longer to disappear than the spots that are the result of mild acne. Another factor is the person’s ability to heal. Those who heal faster have acne red marks that disappear quickly. However, if you heal slowly, the spots disappear slowly.

You can use a home remedy which will help the acne red marks disappear more quickly. Mix five teaspoons of baking soda with 9 teaspoons of water to make a paste. Apply the paste to the acne spots, and allow it to dry, then wash it away. You can also apply it and massage the marks gently, then wash the paste away.

Sometimes acne causes a pigment problem. These are not to be confused with the red marks that acne leaves. These spots are brown in color. It may be a light brown, or a dark brown. Darker skin is especially prone to this condition, which are called pigment spots. These spots will go away without treatment as well, however, when acne is treated with benzoyl peroxide, the spots may last longer.

In conclusion, there really is no way to answer the question, how long does acne red marks stay. They typically last between four and twelve weeks, but how long they last within that time frame depends on a large number of factors.

Over the counter and prescription acne treatments often contain chemicals that many people do not wish to use. Instead, these people search for home treatments for acne. There are many home treatments for acne that actually do work. Here are some things you can try.

1. Apply essential oils, such as Tea Tree Oil, Bergamot Oil, Clove Oil, Lavender Oil, and Rosewood Oil. For sensitive skin, dilute the oil with grapeseed oil. Apply the oil before going to bed at night, then wash it away in the morning with a pure soap, such as Ivory, and clean water.

2. If you are not taking any medications that could cause you to be overly sensitive to the sun, try getting some sunshine everyday. The purpose is not to tan to hide the acne. Instead, the sun actually kills the bacteria, and dries up the sebum oil that produces acne. This is a common home treatment for acne that doesn’t cost anything.

3. Acne begins on the inside of the body, not on the surface of the skin. Drink plenty of water – at least eight glasses per day – to help detoxify your body and cure acne. Also eat plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables.

4. For home treatment for acne, apply an oatmeal mask at least once or twice a week. Cook oatmeal, and while it is still warm (not scalding hot) apply it to your entire face. Allow the oatmeal to dry, then wash it away. You can also use dried oatmeal, dampened – but not cooked – with warm water as a facial scrub to exfolliate the skin and clean the pores.

5. Avoid eating processed foods, and stick to more natural fruits and vegetables. No food has ever been scientifically proven to cause acne, however, if you have a food allergy, the allergy often results in acne. Many people have food allergies, and go their entire lives without knowing it. Don’t assume that a food allergy will leave you unconscious on the floor – the allergic reaction can appear in many forms, like acne breakouts. You can visit an allergist for a simple blood test to find out if you have any food allergies.

There are many other home treatments for acne, some of which work, and some of which do not work. The important thing is to drink plenty of water, eat fresh fruits and vegetables, get plenty of sleep, wash your face at least twice a day, and take vitamins – especially vitamin A and vitamin E.

There are countless acne treatments available over the counter. Some work, and some don’t work. Some are expensive, and other’s are inexpensive, although usually, the most expensive, unaffordable treatments are usually the one’s that work the very best. However, there are home remedies to heal acne quick that you can try, without spending alot of money.

The most common home remedies to heal acne quick is the use of essential oils that can be purchased in a health food store. These oils are applied directly to the acne, although if you have sensitive skin, you should dilute the oil with grapeseed oil. Common essential oils for the treatment of acne include rose hip seed oil, sandalwood, and lavender. Primrose oil can also help.

Applying ice to the area can help reduce the inflammation quickly, making the pimple less noticeable. Some people report that ground nutmeg, mixed with cold milk and applied on the affected area works quite well as a home remedy to heal acne quick.

Toothpaste is another common home remedy for acne. Buy the plain white toothpaste. Don’t use gels. Simply dab a little toothpaste on the pimple and leave it overnight. By morning, the inflammation should be greatly reduced, and the pimple may even be completely gone.

Milk of magnesia has also been reported to work well for the treatment of acne. Instead of taking it internally, use a q-tip or cotton ball to apply it directly to the pimple. Allow it to dry, then rinse it off with cool water. Apply it two or three times per day for the fastest results.

Avoid popping or squeezing the pimple, as that will only serve to cause further breakouts, and will possibly cause scarring. Also, instead of getting rid of the pimple, it actually makes it much more noticeable, by leaving a big red spot from all the squeezing!

Some people even report that you can reduce or eliminate pimples by putting a drop of visine on it, although this may not work for most people. The point is that many home remedies to heal acne quick are available, and most of them actually do work just as well as anything that you could buy in your local drug store. But they don’t always work quickly. How fast a treatment works – whether it is home made or store bought – depends on many factors, including the severity of the acne.

Having clear skin does not always require the purchase of expensive products. In many cases, those products don’t really work as well as they promise anyway. There are hundreds of home remedies for clear skin. Some work, and some don’t. What you must remember is that what works for some people, does not work for others. We all have different skin types, and our bodies respond to various treatments in different ways.

However, there are many common home remedies for clear skin that work for the majority of people. These home remedies are very cheap and easy to make. Some don’t require making anything at all. Some home remedies for clear skin simply involve the use of essential oils, which can be purchased in a health food store for a minimal cost.

When using home remedies for clear skin, make sure that you open the pores before applying the treatment, then close the pores when you are finished. Warm or hot water opens pores, and cold water closes them. You should splash your face with cold water before applying makeup. This will keep the makeup from penetrating the pores, which can cause acne or pimples to breakout.

Here are some other home remedies for clear skin:

1. Use witch hazel as an astringent. Make sure pores are open first.

2. Instead of doing acid peels to remove scars, rub a fresh cut lemon on your skin instead. It may take a little more time to work, but it is cheaper and healthier.

3. Instead of using chap stick or lip balm, use castor oil on dry lips. If you will be out in the sun, use the castor oil, then use a lip balm that protects the lips from the sun over the castor oil.

4. Treat dry skin with almond and grapeseed oil. These are better than commercial moisturizers, and they work faster. You can also use avocado oil. Apply a thin layer in the morning, then another thin layer at night. Make sure your pores are open when you apply the treatment.

5. Treat razor burn with aloe vera gel. Don’t just use products that contain aloe, because they contain other drying ingredients as well, such as alcohol. Instead, buy yourself an aloe vera plant from your local nursery. Cut off one of the leaves, and cut it open – that’s the gel you want to apply to irritated or razor burned skin!

There are countless home remedies for clear skin that you can use. These are just some of the most popular, and most effective. However, not all home remedies are for everyone. If you notice that any of these treatments cause dry or irritated skin, or cause acne breakouts, discontinue use, and try something else.
